Loyalsock State Forest in northeastern Pennsylvania, with roots dating back to the early 1900s, is a testament to conservation and outdoor recreation. Originally acquired for watershed protection and timber management, the Civilian Conservation Corps further developed the forest in the 1930s. In 1985, the McIntyre Wild Area within Loyalsock State Forest was designated, preserving 11,000 acres of pristine wilderness. The area, characterized by rugged terrain and diverse ecosystems, remains largely untouched. A popular destination, the forest offers activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, and birdwatching through an extensive trail system.
